poppy appeal

Hello today I'm going to talk about the poppy appeal.

       Last year a man gave £10,000 to the poppy appeal. Lots of schools sell Poppies. We held a one minute silence is on the 11.11.10.

  I bought a poppy on the 2.11.10.

  Elizabeth L was drawing a poppy on the 3.11.10.It was really good.

Victorians

Hello again,today i'm going to talk about  VICTORIANS.

The people who like doing victorians are:Alana W,Tiah H,Katie T,Elizabeth L,Lydia M,Nikita G,Saphi H and the people who don't like victorians as much are:Callum G,Dorje G,Lottie B,Holly S. But they might change their minds.

Mrs McNaughton said that we are going to find out about schools, inventors and Queen Victoria.

All the year 5/6 classes are doing it.The year 5/6 teachers are Mrs McNaughton,Miss Robinson and Mrs Smith.

Most of the IT club likes doing VICTORIANS.

Every week we get a piece of VICTORIAN homework. Here is an  example of homework that we got today: research an inventor/invention in Victorian times.

Spring Is Coming!

Spring is just around the corner. Officially, Spring starts on the 22nd  March, however the signs of Spring are here already.

• the daffodils are coming out

• the cherry blossom is on the trees.

• the days are getting longer

• the days are getting warmer

• there are buds on the trees

Year 3 and 4 - Christmas!

Ooorh! Back to school again! I've done a bit of surveying and have found out about what the Yr 3, 4s have been doing at Christmas ....... 

Lottie Year 3, who is in Mrs Griffith's class told me: "At Christmas my Grandma and Grandpa came to stay, my Nanny came as well and I got loads of presents which I really liked."

Alex Year 3, who is also in Mrs Griffith's class, told me:"I stayed at home for Christmas and my Granny and Grandpa came. I got a Sudoku machine and Christmas dinner was delicious. I had turkey with stuffing."

Year six go to the Isle of Wights

Isle of Wight Activities   

During the week we did loads of activities on the Isle of Wight. They included survival (making shelters and camp fires), beach (erosion of cliffs and how it became a habitat for monks hundreds of years ago) and a village study (a walk with a talk), woodland challenge (crawling under netting, through tyres, etc and ‘save the dummy’), raft building (plastic barrels, ropes and planks of wood), rock pooling and an eight mile hike- PHEW!

It was very enjoyable and exciting.

Christmas!

As the Christmas holidays are coming up, I thought I should write about what I am looking forward to in my time off from school. In the holidays I am going to see my Grandma, Auntie and Uncle in the Lake District.

If you have been to the Lake District you will know that the scenery is very beautiful .

Anyway, I will look forward to looking through my uncle's telescope and seeing the massive Christmas tree that they have.

The cross country run

Earlier this month, November, Mrs Aldridge (Year 1 and 2) arranged a cross county run in school for all the juniors (ages 7-11 years). This was a fantastic event and we thank her highly for giving us an exciting run. We took the opportunity the following week to interview her about it.

The races all began on the field, went down and around the playgrounds then back up to the field beside the terrapin. The circuit was about 1 kilometre long (longer for the Year 5s and 6s).

Our trip to the Isle of Wight -- East Dene

This year our Year 6 children went to the Isle of Wight in September. We stayed in East Dene in the village of Bonchurch.

East Dene is a beautiful Victorian mansion with some old walls and stained glass windows. It has lovely natural surroundings and it is home to some very rare red squirrels. The dormitories are brilliant and some of them have a very old and interesting history. It was really nice and homely. It was the best house ever!
